Managing Your On-Line Account
CES System
Update
It’s great to see so many SISLETS members logging on to the on-line
system. As more people make use of the system for their accounting and register
their Offers and Wants it will grow to become a resource for all members and
replace the old labour-intensive ways of running SISLETS.
Account Management: Also encouraging is the many members that do not have inter-net access making use of the new system with the assistance of members with computer access.
Just a reminder that the following members
have offered their services for managing member’s accounts: Julie SISA0236 -
Milton SISA0024 - Katy SISA0262
- Monte SISA0264 – Lay Lee SISA0252.
Please check SISLETS Membership List for contact details.
Password: You
will need to know your individual password in order to access the system. Passwords were issued (in the December
mail-out last year) to all members when the system was established. If you no
longer have this information you’ll have to contact the SISLETS Co-ordinator to
access the system and retrieve your password.
Check Your
Entries: A
reminder also to check your statement to ensure all entries on your account are
correct. Members are now responsible for doing their own accounting. Mistakes
can occur. Transaction input is no longer regulated by one person overseeing
the accounting (as was the case in the previous accounting system). Please report any accounting irregularities
to SISLETS@gmail.com
Offers and Wants folder – ‘Resource
Guide’
For members without inter-net access a folder containing an updated print-out of current Offers and Wants from the CES site is available for display at the SISLETS market (on the SISLETS display table). Please bring a pen and paper to make notes on what’s available.
This replaces the now out-dated paper copy
‘Resource Guide’. Please make sure you are listed in the folder by inputting
your Offers and Wants online so that all members are informed about your
contribution to LETS.
Feedback from members about
the new system and issues related to its use will be covered in the Newsletter.
If you have something you want to say about on-line account management (of your
account or another member’s) please send to SISLETS for discussion.

Members Forum
Many
thanks for your contributions to the Forum. Comments are still flowing from members
about how interesting they find this section of the newsletter. Lots of members are still to introduce
themselves. Please send your contribution to SISLETS for inclusion in next
Newsletter (by 17 July 2007).
Introducing: Dianne
Hopkins SISA0260
I am
downloading antivirus software and it is taking ages so thought I would write
something about myself for the newsletter.
I did get some encouragement - Pam reminded me that it would be a good
to send something in. People probably
best know me as the person who serves in the Café at the market.
My cousin Noeleen, discussed LETS with me a
couple of years ago and I thought because of my interest in recycling it would
be great to join. I have connected with
many great people in LETS including Pam who is like-minded with my lifestyle
and beliefs - we have a great time exchanging ideas and trying innovative
ways.
I have taken a life-changing step this year
and commenced full time study at
LETS membership has also enabled me to meet
Ann and John - a wonderful addition to my circle of friends. I was fortunate to receive guidance and
motivation during my preparation for the university entrance exam from this
lovely couple. Do you remember a recent
article in a past Newsletter about Cuddle Parties? John was instrumental in bringing our
attention to how starved we are for the little things in life e.g. HUGS. However the response to this has been
sad. But I still have an idea for the
LETS market and hopefully I will get some time to develop it.
Well that is it from Dianne, SISA0260, the
antivirus is done, back to study!
Introducing: Sue and
Geoff NESA0014 Ph: 8266 2657
(as
of March 07)
Who are you? Sue is the NE co-ordinator
and runs the necessary day to day activities.
Geoff is kept busy on market days – setting up trestle tables, putting
out the market boards, serving lunches, doing the dishes, etc.
We joined the old Adelaide LETS in 1994 which operated from an office
in
Work/Hobbies/Interests
or anything else about yourself We are keen permaculture gardeners and have
varied success in producing our own organic veggies and fruit. The others in our household are our adopted
ex racing greyhound Tavia and some ex battery chooks. They are a pathetic sight when we bring them
home buts its really rewarding to see how soon they rediscover their natural
instincts and begin scratching about, taking dust baths, etc. Their feathers gradually grow back and its
not long before we are rewarded with lovely eggs!
LETS
Activity: We are happy to share our
low-tech energy saving ideas with anyone with similar interests. One of our requests is for someone to paint a
tromp-l’oeil (trick of the eye) on a garden fence to give the illusion of a
distant scene.
Why you joined LETS – has it filled your expectations? LETS fits neatly into our lifestyle. We see it as a formal way of the old
philosophy of neighbours helping each other.
Its sometimes disheartening and frustrating when theres not much
feedback or participation from members, but the good things about LETS always
outweigh the bad, so we are encouraged to keep going. I’m sure the new on-line system will promote
much more member participation which can only benefit our system. We find LETS a great way to meet and make
friends with like-minded folk who would otherwise never cross our paths.
Introducing: Diane NESA0178 Ph
8261 0706
Who are you? I am the NE LETS
Treasurer and work with Sue on a regular basis. We meet every couple of months
or so to discuss coming events, financial matters and organisational
details. I am a regular at markets. My stall (when I have one) usually contains
good quality new and secondhand goods including clothes from my two grandsons.
I plan eventually to trade with home-grown produce, seedlings and
native/unusual potted plants. I’ve also had a table for LETS publicity and
membership and in February I collated and displayed the results of the survey.
Work/Hobbies/Interests
or anything else about yourself My three great passions are my two adult
daughters, my two grandsons (and a grand daughter due in early April) and my
garden. I recently acquired two chicks
(from my grandson’s kindy) and Fifi, my Silkie bantam, loves them. My goal to have a thriving permaculture
garden is slowly but surely becoming a reality.
LETS
Activity: My offers include decluttering (and
I’m successfully practising what I preach at last!) and Primary school
tutoring. I was a Primary school teacher for 20+ years.
My requests mainly revolve around the garden and help with bigger jobs
or jobs that need more than one pair of hands.
Why you
joined LETS – has it filled your expectations? I joined LETS to save money, to be part of
a lively community, share resources and skills and meet other recyclers and
gardeners. I’m very happy with my LETS experience. I really enjoy the
atmosphere at markets and seeing friendly faces. I also like the fact tht my commitment of
time, effort and money is my choice and what I get back reflects this.
Anything
else you’d like to tell people. I must mention Sue and Geoff who
are practically neighbours and have been a key factor in making my LETS
experience such a good one. Recently
they gave me a computer and I’m looking forward to joining the email/internet
bandwagon in the next few months.

I am seeking a couple of the older style glass
peanut butter jars which had cup markings on the sides (usually had a
yellow plastic lid) .
We use them to make mayonnaise and only have one
left! If you have a 'jar collection' then If you have one or two of
these. Pay 10 units each .
